Communications
Whether
it be a layoff notice, office closure, poor performance review, product
recall, or a project that simply went awry, we all have to deliver bad
news at one time or another. When that happens, you suddenly find
yourself caught in the crossfire of trying to deliver the news without
torpedoing morale, destroying trust, or losing customers. Communicating
bad news is a daunting task, but a necessary skill - particularly in a
recession.
While
no one likes to deliver bad news, there are a number of steps you can
take to minimize the negative effects and preserve critical human
relationships. In this Portland Business Forum breakfast seminar, Kelly
Williams and Chris Hawley will show you:
* How to identify and deal with the factors that make conversations
"difficult"
* Why difficult conversations are a normal and necessary part of every
business organization
* What happens if you ignore the need for difficult conversations
* Specific methods to make difficult conversations less difficult and
more effective.
